Costumes

Roberts Academy dancers in their beginner costumesBeginners

For their first competitions, dancers are able to hire a royal blue skirt through the school, which will need to be worn with a black t-shirt and either socks for children or tights for adults. Beginner boys typically wear black shirt and pants and may choose to wear a blue tie if they wish.

Teams Dress

The Roberts Academy has a number of team costumes available for hire for a small fee, in order to help reduce costs for our families. Dancers can also purchase their own if they wish. Team costumes are worn by all competitors in Ceili and Choreography/Figure competitions and are also available as an option for any dancer who wishes to wear them for solo competition.

The dress is made in the school colours - black, blue & white, with a design of traditional celtic knotwork. This is worn with the matching shawl with our "R" logo, a headband and either socks or tights depending on the dancers age and/or preference. For teams our boys wear a white shirt with a blue tie and black velvet vest which again is available through the school and can also be worn for solos.

Performance Costumes

The school also has a collection of troupe and performance costumes which are worn specially for our displays and shows and save dancers from having to use their own valuable costumes for dance outs. These are owned and cared for by the school and dancers borrow them for the performance. Our main troupe costume comprises of a black skirt lined with blue, and a black velvet bodice with matching celtic cuffs.
