Our Story

Our Irish dancing school represented at the State ChampionshipsFounded in 2008, the Roberts Academy is an Irish dancing school located in Adelaide. We are registered with the Australian Irish Dancing Association and the Irish Dancing Commission (CLRG) in Dublin.

From small beginnings with just a handful of pupils our Irish dancing school has grown and expanded.

The school has been represented every year at the State and National Championships. 2010 saw the first Roberts Academy dancer take to the World Championship stage, with several more making the trip since. We've also seen our students compete at international events like the Great Britain Championships and All Ireland’s.

The Roberts Academy has seen some outstanding results including State solo and team champions and our first National Champion in 2015. We've also had a number of International recalls and placements. In 2017 & 2018 our Senior Figure Team become back to back State Champions and finished Top 5 at Nationals both years.

Learning technique at an Irish dancing schoolOur Approach

We strive to develop each individual into the best Irish dancer they can be. We want our students to achieve their own personal goals while also nurturing strong friendships and a love of Irish dancing and culture.

Classes are offered in both team and solo styles for dancers of all levels. Students have the opportunity to take part in competitions and grade exams with the support and tools in place to help them succeed.

The school also enjoys opportunities to perform throughout the year. These give the dancers valuable stage experience, a fun place to show their skills, and help to build confidence.

Meet the Teachers

Andrew Roberts, ADCRG - Principal

Andrew Roberts, head teacher of our Irish dancing school Before becoming a teacher, Andrew enjoyed a successful competitive career. He won multiple State, National, and International events including a Top 5 finish at Worlds. He then went on to tour with various shows before passing his Teacher qualification in 2007 and becoming an Adjudicator in 2013.

Andrew has trained multiple State Champions in both solo and teams, as well as his first National Champion in 2015. As a qualified personal trainer he shares a strong focus on the dancer's wellness. His coaching has helped a number of pupils achieve personal best results at the elite International level.

"It is extremely rewarding to see the progress of a dancer we have trained from their first steps, to their first medal, to their first title and beyond and to see their enjoyment & personal development throughout their whole journey.

The satisfaction from seeing the friendships & confidence nurtured through the dance school you've created is second to none"
